8SENSES CUTEKids Playgroup bringing cultural learning to families with young kids. Our focus is to provide the cultural / community / creative based learning activities. Our slogan Culturally Together is the origin of CUTEKids :
CUTEKids Program (90 mins) :
Age : 0 - 5 YEARS Fee : $100 per child/term, $10 per trial session (Payment Prior Session and Non Refundable) Families are welcome to celebrate their kid’s birthdays with friends at playgroup if time permits. At end of each term we can have tea parties and kids will be given a “Thank You” certificate for being with CUTEKids playgroup. |
2021 Term 3 - Being Connected Online
There was much anticipation and excitement for Term 3 with approximately 100 families joining CUTEKids playgroup, however we only had 2 weeks of playgroup onsite and it was months of lockdown from mid July till end of Term 3. So sad to be in this situation because we were excited to welcome new families joining CUTEKids playgroup at Arndell Park Community Centre for the first time.
We had online Zoom sessions as an alternative, families login at different sessions from Tuesdays to Saturdays in the mornings. New zoom details were given for each session to protect families privacy and security. We enjoyed singing together and doing various activities and games online to entertain the young kids. Always a joy to see families logging in each time and the smiles on their faces are very encouraging to me as a facilitator. Of course there were times when kids could not sit still and families having to work from home, with home schooling for older kids and online playgroup all at the same time at home was not an easy task for families to cope.
There were birthday celebrations and cultural activities celebrating Mid Autumn Festival in September with lantern making/story telling and games. I recorded several favourite songs for families to view online and a story presentation called “Feathers For Phoebe”. During the school holidays we did various craft activities and these materials were delivered to our families homes, included Creative Sand art and we did Creative Stone Art together online.
I noticed some of our families with older siblings were very keen to attend our playgroup sessions for some fun, therefore I decided to start a learning session for them on Saturdays (Ages 4 to 7 years) using an educational program to help provide some interactive fun activities. We always have fun dancing together at the end of the sessions and even meet new friends online. There were new families from Mandarin speaking background who were keen to join CUTEKids playgroup and a new session was started on Fridays for them (Ages 0 to 3 years). It is ALWAYS a joy to see kids learning and smiling each time we meet online.
The past months were very challenging for families however we all did our best to stay safe and are looking forward to having CUTEKids playgroup at the community centres soon in Term 4.

2021 Term 2 - Time Flies!
We had so much fun in Term 1 and so eager to start Term 2, get to know new families and enjoy the company with existing families. Kids are always having fun playing together with new toys added for this term, even packing up the toys can be fun when done together with friends. CUTEKids playgroup always welcome other family members, daddies and grandparents do come and have fun with their little ones. Our little ones enjoying story time with the many books that CUTEKids has in our mini library collection. Always happy to sing “Happy Birthday” to our little ones on their birthdays.
Themes for term 2 included : farm animals / safari animals / aussie animals / sea animals and dinosaurs. We did hand painting as fish prints, played fishing with magnetic fishing rods and magnetic fish pieces. The kids played with moving sea turtles and crabs by pulling the strings attached to the toys, they had so much fun that some mummies wanted to buy the toys for their little ones.
In mid May we went for an excursion to Werribee Open Range Zoo, it was a very cold and windy day and only a few braved the cold weather. Had colourful animal masks for kids to play pretend and some kids enjoyed putting on their animal masks even while sitting in their prams.
We had a few fun weeks of dinosaur learning experiences with foam stickers, making kid’s own dinosaurs mini park, looking at new dinosaurs books and pretended to be mini dinosaurs jumping and walking into the rings on the floor. A new mini basketball hoop was set up by one of the kind dad for families to have some fun together. Games are always included in CUTEKids playgroup as part of the kids learning experiences.

Mother’s Day was a special celebration in May and each mummy and grandma were given a stalk of orchid, compliments from 8SENSES CUTEKids. Each of them are so lovely and to show my appreciation for their kind support always.

Soon it was end of term 2, we had “Graduation Day” with a little party had party hats an awarded a “Certificate Diploma”. Getting the kids together for a group photo was quite a challenge and manage to take the photo in a split second. A hand print collage was a group effort by each different playgroups and am very proud and happy to see each child growing up well the past 10 weeks. There were some families who had to go back to work or moved intersate and are still keeping in touch with Ms Phebe.
2021 Term 1 - We are back!
8SENSES CUTEKids playgroup welcomed over 80 new families to Mainview Boulevard Family Learning Centre for the 1st time and was excited to be back at Point Cook Community Learning Centre in Term 1 early February 2021.
There was overwhelming response from families living in Truganina, CUTEKids playgroup was divided to 2 age groups. For ages 0 to 2.5 years and ages 2.5 to 5 years reason being to cater the activities more specifically to the different age groups. CUTEKids at Point Cook remained for ages 0 to 5 years.

Kids always have fun playing with toys and learning to share and develop their social skills, parents also have opportunities to make new friends. Always happy to have daddies or grandparents visit our playgroup.
In early February the theme was Insects and Butterflies. Families learned and made various colourful crafts which were brought home to be kept as souvenirs.
Families celebrated Lunar New Year in late February with cultural dress ups, played with lion puppets / cultural instruments and learned various New Year Greetings in mandarin. Families dressed up again in cultural outfits to celebrate Cultural Diversity in late March.
Rhymes/Singing and Dancing are all part of our playgroup programs. Baby Shark is our all time favourite song definitely. Story time is included for families to read together. Games played together are always fun for kids and adults. Learning everyone's names gave me great satisfaction as a facilitator and seeing all their smiles each week gives me so much happiness. Always a joy to Sing “Happy Birthday” whenever it is one of the children’s birthday during playgroup.
There were lots of Easter Crafts and to celebrate end of Term 1, we had an Easter Outdoor Picnic and lots of Easter Egg chocolates to hunt for. Each child was awarded a CUTEKids Diploma too!!! To thank each child for their kind support.
2020 VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES
8SENSES CUTEKids Playgroup had a wonderful 1st year with families at Point Cook Community Learning Centre (PCCLC) and Featherbrook Community Centre (FBCC). CUTEKids was looking forward to seeing last year’s families with new family additions and new families from Saltwater Community Centre (SWCC) and Mainview Boulevard Family Learning Centre (MFLC) in 2020 but unfortunately this was not possible due to the COVID pandemic. With restrictions on community activities, CUTEKIds had to look at online options to remain connected with families. CUTEKids will help families in any way possible during these challenging times. Families were delivered with a Special Easter Pack in April and were encouraged to stand at their home’s glass doors or windows with their favourite rabbit or soft toy and say hello to their friends which was later shared in a CUTEKids video.

Kids made Bunny Ears with the crafts and there were Easter eggs as a surprise. Kids could have their own “Easter Egg Hunt” with their families at home whenever they can.

JAPANESE CHILDREN'S DAY
Japanese Children’s Day is on 5th May and crafts related to the celebration was shared with families. Including a video showing how to fold an origami Japanese kimono. Colour–Ins pictures of the kodomo which is a fish representing the child in the family.

We had virtual birthday celebrations with a cake that is made of decorative clay and virtual tea parties together whenever possible. Kids are enjoying their favourite snacks and a hot cuppa for mummies. I also celebrated my 50th birthday with the families in mid August with various balloons and a birthday muffin. Told everyone I was the “Happiest 50 year old girl on that day”.

Community activities like Biggest Morning Tea was introduced with an outdoor tea party for kids and enjoying their favourite morning snacks.

Learn about nature and insects by making our very own butterflies with colourful pipe cleaners and these butterflies can be worn as rings and lots of activities about butterflies and insects.

Kids had fun with Dinosaurs and made some Dinosaurs Fossils and finding Dinosaurs with sand play. Using various craft materials and learning with their 5 senses.

Other themed activities include Animal Dress Up / Aussie Animals / Winter Crafts / Made mooncakes with playdoh and lots of personalised sticker crafts.

Organised a combined playgroup excursions to Werribee Open Range Zoo to learn about the wild animals and to Aquapulse for water play during Summer.

Families had lots of fun with Creative Food art, designing their favourite morning snacks to creative lovely ideas.

Christmas and Year End parties for families with Christmas carols / dancing and food sharing, lots and lots of Christmas crafts to keep kids very happy.
